Slow Cooker Oatmeal Cereal

INGREDIENTS
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup quick cooking or rolled oats
¼ cup brown or white sugar
pinch of salt, as desired
¼ cup milk, cream or half & half (optional)
fruit or berries, as desired when serving (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Add first 5 ingredients to slow-cooker and stir well to combine.
Place slow-cooker on the lowest setting*, cover and allow to simmer for at least 5 hours.
If desired, just before serving add the optional ¼ cup of milk, cream or half & half to the hot cereal and stir well until fully incorporated and creamy.
For an added treat, cover cereal with berries, fruit, or nuts.
(*) The warm setting is recommended, if available, depending on your brand of slow-cooker.
