RECIPE OF THE DAY ::

    HOMEMADE CRANBERRY LIQUEUR

                       Ingredients:

                       2 cups Cranberries

                       1 1/2 cups vodka

                       1 1/2 cups sugar

                       3/4 cup water

                       1/2 lemon or lime peel

                       1/4 orange peel

                       1 stick cinnamon

                       1/8 tsp. ground allspice

   Method:

    1.  Chop up the cranberries in a blender or food processor, on the lowest

setting, until it's the consistency of grits.

    2.  Pour into jar.

    3.  Using an apple peeler, carefully peel just the rind of the citrus fruits,

discarding the white pith from the 1/2 lemon or lime and the 1/4 orange,

and put this outer layer of peels in the jar.

    4.  Pour vodka in the jar. If you're using the optional spices, add them to

    the mix as well.

    5.  Boil sugar and water together; when the sugar is all dissolved, let stand

a minute and then measure 1 1/2 cups into the jar.

    6.  Seal the jar quickly, lest the alcohol evaporate in the heat. Let the

mixture steep for 4 weeks, shaking lightly each day. Store in a dark place.

    7.  Strain and filter well with cheese cloth or cloth filter before storing in

    sealed container.

NOTE: Even an, almost, undetectable hint of scent can ruin the liqueur flavor.

Wash containers EXTREMELY WELL and dry completely.

As a frequent traveler, I'm often amazed at how dramatically my mood changes depending on where I am staying. I have stayed in some very nice hotels that were so warm and welcoming that I loved being in my room. Other rooms were so dark and uninviting I found my mood spiraling downward.
