     It Starts With Our Thinking

                                                                        by Dennis Harting

Everything that we encounter in life originally started as a thought. Thinking is something that everyone does yet few take the time to determine why they think the way that they do. Consider that for a few moments-why do you think the way that you do? Is it because of some conscious choice that you made at one time? Perhaps it is the result of a series of decisions you made to have the mindset that you do? Unfortunately, for most of us, we had little input into the system of thinking that we utilize.

Many of us are a product of our environment. The people around us growing up influenced in ways that we are not even aware of. Everything that they did was imprinted upon our minds. We took it all in perfectly. During the maturation process, our minds filtered through all the information to determine what it found to be useful. This is what created the mindset that we carry around with us today. If there was a lot of negative input into the mind, it is very likely that individual will have a negative outlook. The same can be said for positive influences.

Everything that is presently in your life is a result of your thinking. Where you are right now is a culmination of all the decisions that you made over the years. Each day, we are confronted with choices. Before we can make a choice, we must first think about the options we are confronted with. Everything goes through the mind, even if it for the briefest of moments. The decisions that we make are influenced heavily by the default mindset we operate under. For example, an overwhelmingly negative person is most likely going to make different decisions than someone who has a positive outlook.

Thinking is at the center of all that we do. Whatever decisions we make to improve or destroy our lives goes through the thought mechanism that we carry. For people to permanently change their lives, they must first have a shift in their thinking. Changing actions can work in the short-term. However, if there is no altering of the thinking, it will eventually override the change in action. This is why so many people seem to be in the same type of predicament repeatedly. No matter what they attempt to alter on the outside, their thinking ultimately leads them to the same conclusion.

The age-old definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. To believe that we can affect our lives simply by changing what we do is insanity. Thought is the originator of all action. If we want to have a magical improvement in all we do, changing the default thought process springboards us forward. A change in thought will lead to a change in action.

Controlling one's thoughts is the key to controlling one's life. Successful people have a particular thought pattern they follow that nets them the results that they get. If you want to be successful, find someone who has what you want and model how they think about things. It will provide you with insight into how they make decisions that arrive at the predetermined conclusions that are desired. Learn the differences in the thoughts the successful have versus what the unsuccessful think about. You will be amazed at the dramatic change in focus that accompanies this.

Procrastination - The Silent Killer Procrastination destroys more lives than any other single factor. This habit can grow so out of control that it literally paralyzes a person from taking action. The general tendency is to simply think too small. This creates a ceiling on the life that one can have. Begin to expand the potential of your life by expanding your thinking.

The Parable Of Faith Most of us think that we know what different situations mean. Oftentimes in life, things occur that seem terrible in the moment only to be viewed differently in hindsight. Our perspective tends to change as we receive more information. This parable tells of a man who didn't rush to judgment.

Stop Exchanging Time For Money  The majority of the population exchanges their time for money. Their pay is dependent upon the hours that they work. At the end of the pay period, they receive a paycheck in exchange for the hours worked. The wealthy do not operate under this premise. They put their money to work for them.

Seven Common Habits of Successful People  Success usually doesn't come to people that exhibit poor habits, such as laziness, a gloomy disposition or attitude, or possess an unwillingness to learn. Instead, it is poor behaviors and practices that hold people back from achieving the success they want out of life, no matter how much they want it to happen. The desire to achieve success is simply not enough, meaning you have to match your desire with effort, determination, patience, and motivation.
